Orange Mycena

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Orange Mycena is a species of mushrooms in the genus Mycena. These mushrooms measure up to only a few centimeters in diameter. The more scientific name is Mycena leaiana. They are bright orange with marginate gills and can stand out from a long distance. Orange Mycena are not known to be poisonous but they are too small to be used in cooking. The orange color of the mushroom can rub off very easily when touched by rain or humans. After that, the color turns into a pale tannish orange. All Orange Mycena live on wood and they grow in tight clusters on the decaying logs of hardwoods.
