Orange España
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Orange España is a mobile network operator in Spain. It was previously known as Amena (pleasant in an amusing way in Spanish) until 2005, when it was bought by France Télécom. Its competitors are Movistar, Vodafone Spain and Yoigo. France Telecom gave the name of their cellphone brand to Amena.
Its legal headquarters are in Pozuelo de Alarcón, near Madrid.
Orange itself is not a Spanish word, its equivalent is naranja although in advertisements and announcements, Orange is pronounced ['oɾaŋʧ], an approximation to the English pronunciation. In Spanish, the ge would normally be pronounced as a strong hey, the h sounding like the j in jalapeño.
Orange España is the third mobile phone provider of the four Spanish providers (Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo), with 11 million customers and also offers TV and Internet connections (ADSL).
Orange offers GSM 900/1800 MHz (2G), UMTS 2.1Ghz (3G) services and HSDPA (3.5G) services
Its network radio access serves to the following companies (Virtual Mobile Operators, "Operador Móvil Virtual" in Spanish) to provide mobile services: MasMovil, Happy Móvil, Carrefour Móvil, Jazztel Movil, Día Móvil and Simyo.
