The Orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides), also known as Estuary cod, is a species of fish in the Serranidae family. It is found in Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Micronesia, Mozambique, New Caledonia, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Qatar, RĂ©union, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Yemen. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, open seas, shallow seas, subtidal aquatic beds, coral reefs, estuarine waters, intertidal flats, and coastal saline lagoons. It is threatened by habitat loss.
