[edit] Beginnings
Opus 1 Music came into existence in 2003 and was an Opera company based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England principally producing professional touring Opera productions on an intimate scale. The company specialised in providing a platform for up and coming professional singers.
The company was unique for its size in that along with orchestra and principal cast their productions featured both an adult and children's chorus.
Their opening productions of La Boheme and Tosca received generally positive reviews and in the Autumn season of 2006 a new production of Verdi's Il Trovatore was added to the repertoire.

The company also had an education programme and provided music and entertainment for corporate and private events.
[edit] Administration
A production of Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville' was to be added to the company's repertoire in 2007 but the company went into administration in June 2007 and was subsequently shut down before the new production premiered.
