[edit] Contributions for Joukjouka

Hi Opiumjones 23! I really appreciate your efforts on bringing new soul to wikipedia. I applaud your contributions! FYI, I am from Tetouan and Joukjouka is very familiar to me and feel very sorry that I've got many things to care about (as I am an administrator of wikipedia). I believe you will bring more than wikipedia is expecting from you. Nevertheless, I'll just gide you to Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Cheers and hAappy new year Opiumjones 23! Wiki me up™

[edit] Joujouka

Good job on copy editing. Regarding Mohammed Hamri, I'll redirect it to Mohamed Hamri so both will be searcheable. Cheers -- Szvest 12:30, 3 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™

Paul Bowles and William Burroughs in the 1950s because the Sufi trance musicians there appeared to still worship the god Pan. got 2 problems:
  • It doesn't make sense! That doesn't explain anything! Were Bowles and Burroughs worshipers of Pan as well?
  • Everything in wikipedia should be referenced. Do you have any reference to the Pan stuff?
Another thing, why did you remove the link to Greek god of shepherds Pan (mythology)? -- Szvest 12:36, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you have the right person. Here are my complete deletion logs Log 1 & Log 2. Can you point out which image it was? Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 22:18, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Joujouka_rhaita_players.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 08:33, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:The stars are underground cover image Cat fr007 VHS olkrum records.jpg 2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

141.155.10.116's continuing edit war at William S. Burroughs, etc.

This anonymous user has repeatedly altered the external links of the following articles: William S. Burroughs, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Mohamed Hamri, Bachir Attar, Frank Rynne, and other articles directly of indirectly linked to the Master Musicians of Jajouka and/or Paul Bowles. Said user claims, and I quote his own words here, that "FRANK RYNNE & JOE AMBROSE's article on Brink.com is Libelous against Paul Bowles & Living Persons. KEEP THIS OFF WIKIPEDIA". I left on a message on the user's talk page encouraging said individual to provide evidence in a public forum of said libel so that other editors and administrators can review it and decide if these links are appropriate for Wikipedia. I was ignored. He is well past the point of violating the 3 revert rule, and his continuing actions are vandalism. I gave him a level 4 warning, but it has not dissuaded him. He seems to have a grievance, and I would like, if it is possible, for there to be some kind of discussion of the matter. If this proves impossible, he needs a block to bring the vandalism to a halt. Thanks. ---Charles 02:55, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Bachir attar controversy

A tag has been placed on Bachir attar controversy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Re BKLisenbee deleting my comments, don't delete my comments on my Talk page or my comments on other discussion pages

The above user is campaigning on Wikipedia on a very much debated area re Jajouka, Bachir Attar, etc. His POV is proven below but he keeps deleting this post. BKLisenbee do not edit my talk page!!!!!!or remove my commnets. This is against all the rules you quote so much. The Babelmed

is generally a soft piece of journalism promoting Bachir Attar save for the journalist noting Attar's drinking. A Sufi trance musician in a Halal region of Morocco drinking two bottles of vodka in a sitting strikes me as noteworthy. Bachir Attar co-operated on the article so your cherry picking is obtuse and obviously designed to protect the image of this star. That is not what we are here for, neither it it our job to denigrate. However, Mr. Attar is a controversial figure as is shown on the talk pages and archived talk pages on related pages show and also in actual articles.. Therefore it a more than noteworthy point!!!! It may be a central issue in the divisions that seem to plague Jajouka. My post again is below, leave it here until admin comes back to me. Below is the deleted post: [ [User: BK Lisenbee]] It was not the personal involvement that you below justify that I was referring to. However the below statement seems to indicate that you were not “personally involved” until two people who advocate a differing POV ie they work/ or are somehow advocates of the The Master Musicians of Joujouka did an interview you object to. You posted the following on your User page “I am not "obiously a part of the story", as you say. I was only drawn into this because Frank Rynne & Joe Ambrose slandered Paul Bowles and libeled myself and a friend, who still live in Tangier” The above quote from your posting on your user page is actually stating that you not” obviously a part of the story” but your personal involvement is justified because of an interview referred to above. This is confirming that you have a POV. As your deletions followed a pattern of recent vandalism they gave great cause for concern. However the personal involvement I referred in my post on your user page "Personal Involvement" was to do with the below information which I did not feel I needed to go into as I was sure you were aware of your involvement in the affairs of Bachir Attar So here is a little of what I found about this on the web. Some issues were previously raised on archived discussions pages. You are webmaster and designer of [http/www.paulbowles.org] a website associated with the Paul Bowle’s Estate some of the beneficiaries of which included Ms Cherie Nutting (Bachir Attar's manager) and a Philip Ramey. See

Site states “Responsibility Lisenbee, Kenneth (Designer) - Responsibility PaulBowles.org and the estate of Paul and Jane Bowles (Copyright_holder)”

The website you run contains negative references to Mohamed Hamri and you have been editing the Wiki page on him. see

Your website promotes and links to

The ex wife of Bachir Attar and current manager of his group, Cherie Nutting writes for your site. Her photographs are also used throughout. You say you met Miss Nutting and Bachir Attar as they visited Mr. Bowles in Tangier. In light of the above and the below links and facts I am afraid that I can not accept your statement at face value. You are also listed as having travelled with Miss. Nutting to events On the below site See

This link refs , Phillip Ramey, Kenneth Lisenbee, Joseph A. McPhillips III, Cherie Nutting, Virginia Spencer Carr, Claude Nathalie Thomas, Irene Herrmann and Philip Krone attending a private collaborators event. Therefore I would again suggest in the strongest Wiki way that you cease to edit the various Jajouka Joujouka and related pages which you have previously edited with a pro Master Musicians of Jajouka/Bachir Attar and anti Master Musicians of Joujouka/ Mohamed Hamri bias. These edits are sometimes very minor I will admit such as putting links to Master Musicians of Joujouka in different positions to highlight your friend and colleague's pages Master Musicians of Jajouka. However you have also completely changed Bachir Attar in the last few days.

This is not exactly the same as editing your own page but it is against Wiki rules and good behaviour.

Again I must reiterate that it was the closeness of your recent edits to blocked Anon IPs who vandalised links that brought your edits to my attention. These IPs' edits are consitant with your POV edits. This Jajouka Joujouka mess needs to be straightened out and is best left to people who are not directly involved in either sides' business affairs. Please respect the rules of this site.

One last note after your link deletions you have now started editing, amongst other pages, Jajouka This page is under discussion and certain users feel that the official Moroccan government spelling should be adopted with links from the two names used by the recording groups for clarity. I shall revert your copy edits later.

[edit] User:BKLisenbee dump

This a place to host deletions by User:BKLisenbee

- - Dear All, BK ie Kennteth knows full well that there have been two groups of musicians from Zahjouka (the name used by the local Caid and officials) one Master Musicians of Joujouka who have just released yet another Cd. The other group is Master Musicians of Jajouka featuring Bachir Attar. The latter have been involved in a long dispute with both the villagers and the late Mohamed Hamri. The Joujouka spelling was the earliest used in the West and was used since the sixties by the group on joujouka.net. I suggest a seperate page for Master Musicians of Jajouka featuring Bachir Attar as they have substantially different notion of the history of the group. IE all references to Hamri's role in the both groups history will be removed. This was demonstrated by the reissue of the Brian Jones album in 1995 when the sleeve notes of Brion Gysin who was dead at the time were altered by Mr. Attar so as to leave out Gysin's ref to Hamri as being the person who introduced him to Joujouka. They also CHANGED THE SPELLING from the original 1971 release so this is an old problem.

[edit] Allen Klein and Bachir Attar re issue of Brian Jones presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka / Jajouka

"Allen Klein (born December 18, 1931) is an American businessman and record label executive. He is best known (and somewhat notorious) for his tenacious management of rock and roll performers in the 1960s, and the subsequent hostile acquisition and control of their works. Investigations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission led to his trial, conviction, and prison sentence for insider trading and securities fraud." from Allen Klein "Allen Klein (born December 18, 1931) is an American businessman and record label executive. This sheds light on Bachir Attar's advocate User:BKLisenbee's claims that the Rolling Stones had something to did with the reissue of Brian Jones' LP.

Please be judicious in what you've been posting to WP:AN/I. If you keep pushing with threats, you'll get blocked - trust me. I've tried to find out some more information from you on what you're looking to get resolved; I strongly suggest you head down that path rather than the one you're on right now. Remember, we're looking to help both you and the wiki. Tijuana Brass 00:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm here to help you now. Check back at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Jajouka/Joujouka, clarify what the problem is, what guidelines have been violated, how you suggest to correct it, and what you've tried so far to remedy things.
And trust me - don't try gaming the system by using a legal threat to get attention. I understand that it's frustrating to feel ignored, but making threats like that is one of the easiest ways to get a long block (and ruin any chance of getting the help you're looking for). [edit] Blocked

Despite your claim on WP:ANI to the contrary, you have left a clear and unambiguous legal threat on User talk:BKLisenbee, saying "Further defamations of either myself or others associated with me will result in legal proceedings.". You have been advised, both here on that page, that doing so is utterly forbidden by Wikipedia's rules of conduct, but you have chosen to persist. So, per WP:LEGAL, you are indefinitely blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you feel you have grounds for legal action, you should take that matter up with legal counsel. If you feel that a Wikipedia article contains defamatory or otherwise illegal material, you should email the Wikimedia foundation using the process described at Wikipedia:OTRS. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 01:07, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

before I could respond to various comments I have been blocked however the content of the replies I did make indicate my forthright intentions. Sadly User talk:Finlay McWalter seems to be of a differing opinion. His block should be undone to allow edits and responses to admins and editors. Failure to do this indicates unnecessary and deliberate censorship of an aggrieved party who is still but barely willing to trust this sites good intentions opiumjones 23 01:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Therefore I have been blocked for threatening a sock master. Therefore pls unblock as a matter of public interest

User:Opiumjones 23 01:29, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but as several people tried to explain, once you make a legal threat, Wikipedia policy is to prohibit you from editing the site until the legal issue is resolved. You were asked not to make anymore threats, said you wouldn't and then made another threat which lead to your block. It doesn't matter if the account is a sockpuppet or a three-legged beast from Bartlebree, mentioning legal action results in your blocking.

As suggested, you may wish to use WP:OTRS contact emails to describe the problem you see occurring -- also, since I work on the OTRS team, if you'd like to email me directly I can try to review the problem and see if there is something I can do to help resolve it. Wikipedia:Don't overlook legal threats

I note that the court took account of the‎ actions of admins in deleting and responding.

User:Opiumjones 23 03:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

This is why a number of people suggested you take a look at WP:OTRS or look through Wikipedia:Contact us. If you use those contacts (or even try using this talk page or an article page) and say "This article is a problem because of A, B, and C. To fix it, A needs to be changed to D, B needs to be removed entirely for lacking a source and C needs to be rewritten to be less negative." A message like that will let other contributors look at the problem more quickly than a long post -- I find it often helps if you make an actual list of problems, like an outline to the issues you see with the article. Hope that helps. Shell babelfish 03:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

it begs familiarity with the sources too. Sometimes experts have pov which requires talk page arguments but the issue re the musicians is hype emanating from one poor spiritually-disposed soul,Bachir Attar, vs. the village of Sufis and their families represented by Master Musicians of Joujouka. User:Opiumjones 23 04:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

That's a good idea -- if knowing about the sources is important, you can always back up your list with the sources that support what you're saying. You can also point out if there are sources being used that aren't appropriate (for instance, they don't meet our guidelines for reliable sources). The more you can help others understand the case you're trying to make, the easier it is for other to assist in solving the problem. Shell babelfish 04:13, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Image:Joujouka black eyes.jpg

{{hangon}} is used only for speedy deletion. You've got a full week to fix the fair use rationale for this image, and you can remove the deletion tag yourself once you do. Cheers! east.718 at 18:35, December 16, 2007

[edit] Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice re: Charles Townshend. I have taken a quote out of it to illustrate my view of the edits to this article. As you can see, by the article itself, it has had no effect. But I will keep at it. As to the book, while it is useful, and some of the information as in this case corrisponds with quite an number of others, I would have serious issues with some of the opinions. However, varity is the spice as they say, thanks again. --Domer48 (talk) 09:19, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Brian jones joujouka lp cover.jpeg.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Brian jones joujouka lp cover.jpeg.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:27, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Brian jones joujouka lp cover.jpeg.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Brian jones joujouka lp cover.jpg. The copy called Image:Brian jones joujouka lp cover.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 23:30, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: re deleted joujouka image

Hi Opiumjones, I deleted Image:Joujouka 1970.jpg and Image:Joujouka 1970 detail.jpg because they were copyrighted images used to illustrate an active band, Master Musicians of Joujouka. Per WP:NFCC #1, an unfree image is not used if a free one can be taken. Those pictures were only used to illutrate the group and no reason was given as to why the images are not replaceable by a free one. Spellcast (talk) 01:09, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

The article says the group is still active and so it should be possible to get a free image. Is there a reason why that 1970s image has to be used? Spellcast (talk) 01:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Image is issued under same terms as the modern images and is issued by the group to show their history full permission for promo and education are given. No other old image available for this period Opiumjones 23 (talk) 01:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
It was under a nonfree license, which is different to an acceptable free license. I can bring this up at the image copyright desk if you want. Spellcast (talk) 01:43, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
thanks i own the real world copyright on this image and agree to its low res use on wikipedia etc Opiumjones 23 (talk) 01:46, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
If you actually took the image with your own camera, that means you own the copyright. If that's the case, you should put it under one of these free licenses. Spellcast (talk) 01:54, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Contractual ownership based on signed contracts and ownership and possession of negs. Opiumjones 23 (talk) 01:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
The bottom line is if you own the copyright, then please say so in the image page and put it under a free license. Spellcast (talk) 02:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I am allowing fair use not giving it away. Therefore it is fair use here. It is part of promo press pack etc. Opiumjones 23 (talk) 02:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Words of Advice: William S. Burroughs On the Road

Are you asking me what categories this should be placed in? If so, I doubt I can be much help, because I have always considered categories on Wikipedia to be something of a mystery, and rather a mess to me. I suggest you ask Skomorokh, who seems, in my experience, to be more well-versed on such matters. If there is any other way that I may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to ask. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 03:03, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Anytime, sir. I have made some edits, but it looks good overall. I was not aware of this documentary, but will be looking for it soon. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 03:20, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
It is worthwhile and well shot. A real time piece with good interviews with Giorno and Jimmy G. Opiumjones 23 (talk) 03:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Images and Burroughs

I placed a reply to your comment on the image bot. I definitely sympathize, but unfortunately reverting isn't the way to go (I expand on this point on the talk page). As far as the name thing goes, Burroughs is more widely known with the S. Contractural issues are not relevant, and I was requested to make the change for editorial and esthetic reasons. Now if he spelled his name differently, then that would be different (we should actually mention William Lee in the lead as well). 23skidoo (talk) 03:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "modern in innovation". 23skidoo (talk) 22:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not an administrator, so I cannot delete any images. The talk page for the non-free image policy is here, if you want to raise your concerns about the policy. Regards, Bláthnaid 13:25, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Bowles

Thanks for telling me, but I can't say I feel strongly enough about this to persue it. I put the link in merely because I thought it was interesting, but I can see that it's only barely relevant - tho I hope it's in the Hamri article. Thanks again. PiCo (talk) 01:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] a note to myself

User:BKLisenbee first edit on wikipedia as himself was [4]

He removes “Though gay he married bisexual author Jane Bowles". This is a pattern that he has continued on both Paul Bowles and Jane Bowles and, regarding other areas, across a range of Paul Bowles related pages, thereby distorting facts completely. What is the purpose of this sanitising and denying facts of record? Opiumjones 23 (talk) 17:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
