Ophicardelus costellaris is a species of small air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Carychiidae.

[edit] Distribution
This species is endemic to the North Island, and the northernpart of the South Island, of New Zealand.

This snail lives in the upper tidal zone, and also on mud flats, in association with Salicornia, mangroves and rushes.
[edit] Shell description
The shell is ovate-conic, rather solid, the aperture with a lightly variced outer lip, and two strong plaits on the inner lip.
Coloration is light brown, plain or with one or more dark brown spiral bands.
Height is up to 12 mm, and the width is up to 6.5 mm.
