[edit] Discussion

I haven't gotten the chance to read the cited article by Mathew Jones, but the content seems clear - it seems he presents an analysis of the Operation as a measure by Malaya to purge left-wing elements in Singapore, who weren't necessarily Communist, in order to guarantee political stability. I'll try to get my hands on the article if I can. However, I think the section on "Were Lim Chin Siong and Barisan Communist?" should be deleted. First, I think it's clear in the article that Lim Chin Siong may not have been a Communist, or even a Communist-sympathizer, as the article merely states "left-wing." In order to improve the article, I would recommend removing the section on Lim Chin Siong and the Barisan Socialis and integrate the section about the "barter" deal with the background as a possible analytical reason behind the action. -18.243.7.30 (talk) 21:58, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
