Operation Tariq al-Qods (meaning Operation Jerusalem Way) was an operation in the Iran-Iraq War launched by Iran to free Bostan. It was launched on 29 November 1981 and lasted more than a week. This military operation was the first offensive of the Iran-Iraq war that involved Iranian human wave attacks. After fierce fighting the Iranians were able to liberate Bostan. During the operation both Iran and Iraq suffered heavy casualties. Iran was now able to eliminate an important supply route. This was extremely critical because Iraq did not have enough soldiers for a long frontline.
