Operation Old Bridge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operation Old Bridge is the code name for the February 2008 arrests in Italy and the United States that targeted the Gambino crime family. Among the indicted were the reputed acting bosses Jackie D'Amico, Nicholas Corozzo and Consigliere Joseph Corozzo of the Gambino crime family.
The indicments included: murder, drug trafficking, robbery and extortion.

FBI was able to collect the needed information through informant Joseph Vollero, (owner of truck company on Staten Island) who secretly recorded several conversations with members of the Gambino family.[1]

More than 80 people were indicted in the Eastern District of New York. The case is now referred to as United States of America v. Agate et al. It was assigned to Judge Nicholas Garaufis.

Gambino crime family boss Nicholas Corozzo turned fugitive and has so far managed to avoid arrest, after being tipped-off by his daughter after she saw another mobster being arrested.

The operation broke up a growing alliance between the Gambinos and the Sicilian Mafia, who wanted to get into further ahead into the drug trade.[2]
