Operation Halo is the Canadian Forces contribution of 450 personnel and 6 CH-146 Griffon helicopters to Haiti as part of the United Nations Multinational Interim Taskforce to assist in stabilizing the country.
The Canadian contribution will be composed of the Second Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment based in CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, the Canadian Forces Joint Operations Group in Kingston, Ontario, and 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Valcartier, Quebec.
C-130 Hercules and Polaris aircraft based at 8 Wing CFB Trenton, Ontario, will provide airlift support for this deployment. This operation is scheduled to last for approximately 90 days.
