Operation Essential Harvest

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operation Essential Harvest (or Task Force Harvest) was a deployment mission in the Republic of Macedonia by NATO, officially launched on August 22, 2001 and effectively started on August 27. This 30-day mission was initially authorized to send approximately 3500 NATO troops in the Republic of Macedonia, with logistical support, to disarm ethnic Albanian groups, such as the National Liberation Army (NLA), and destroy their weapons. Because national contributions were larger than expected, the force ultimately grew to approximately 4800 troops.
