OpenBerg is an online user-supported project to establish free, open-source resources and standard to use for the creation and use of e-books.
The Project's about page has the mission statement:
The objective of the OpenBerg project is to design and implement open-source tools for the creation, edition and usage of open-standard eBooks.
OpenBerg Lector is a versatile open-source and open-standard e-book reader, available as a Firefox extension and therefore platform-independent.
The following formats are supported:
- Unpackaged (.opf) or packaged (.obz) OEBPS publications.
- OCF (.epub) publications
- Zip-compressed (.cbz) and rar-compressed (.cbr) collections of files
- Microsoft Reader (.lit) books
OpenBerg Rector is an e-book authoring system, currently under development by the OpenBerg Project.
