The Opel Insignia is a mid-size car that will replace the Opel Vectra and will debut at the 2008 London Motor Show.[1] It will be sold exclusively in Europe, but in the United Kingdom, it will be known as the Vauxhall Insignia. It will be around 200 mm (7.9 in) larger than the current Vectra, and will be built on the new GM Epsilon II platform. Addressing the faults of the current Vectra, Opel is aiming the new Insignia more upmarket by using better quality materials and improving its exterior styling.

Opel suggested the Insignia will draw styling inspiration from the GTC concept car it displayed earlier at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show.[1] Opel first used the Insignia name on a radical concept unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003.[2]
