OntoWiki is a free, open source ontology editor and a knowledge acquisition system. OntoWiki is a web-application written in PHP and using MySQL as a persistent storage backend. Other than many Semantic wikis OntoWiki is rather form based than syntax based and thus tries to hide as much of the complexity of knowledge representation formalisms from its users as possible. OntoWiki is being mainly developed by the AKSW research group at Universität Leipzig in collaboration with many volunteers around the world.
