Onterrio Raymond Lloyd Smith (born December 8, 1980 in Sacramento, California) is a former professional running back who played for the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at the University of Oregon, after being dismissed by Coach Phil Fulmer at the University of Tennessee. He shaved the letters "S.O.D." into his head, short for "Steal of the Draft" after the Vikings selected him to join a crowded backfield in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
His career with the Vikings lasted 2 years. During his 2003 rookie season he rushed for 579 yards and 5 touchdowns on 107 carries. His 544 yards on 144 carries the following season would lead the injury-plagued Vikings.
In May of 2005 Smith was detained at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport for carrying dried urine and a mysterious device. This device was later found out to be the Original Whizzinator, a kit that is used to beat drug tests. In June of 2005, Smith was suspended for the entire 2005 season after a third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2006, the Vikings organization released Smith three days prior to the 2006 NFL Draft and more than a month away from the end of his suspensions.
Smith signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL on May 12, 2006 in an effort to get his career back on track.[1] He showed up to training camp 20 pounds over his playing weight and suffered a foot injury on the first day of practice, which prevented him from practicing until near the end of camp. He was cut on June 11, 2006.[2][3]
On April 3rd 2007, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported that Onterrio Smith has applied for reinstatement to the NFL after a two-year suspension.
Smith was arrested for DUI in early May of 2008. [4]

Smith attended Grant Union High School where he teamed with current Cleveland Brown Donte Stallworth, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Paris Warren and Arena Football star Chad Elliot. He helped guide his team to the section championship as a sophomore running for over 1,000 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns.[citation needed]
