An orchestrated email campaign can cause a sales peak which raises a product into the best-seller lists. This will cost about $10,000.[1]
[edit] Second-hand Sales
Amazon.com counts second-hand sales the same as new book sales and so authors can buy lots of their titles cheaply second-hand to inflate their sales. [1]. Authors may even buy new copies using discounts but this can backfire.[2]
