The Online Quran Project (OQP) (sometimes spelled as Online Qur’an Project/Online Qur’ān Project) is a quranic project launched in late 2007, aimed to provide an online, multilingual searchable Qur’an text with worldwide translations. The site is translated into several languages, as it is used by Muslims as non-Muslims worldwide. The Online Quran Project is the first website to offer a Qur’an text with full diacritics (tawjeed) rules[1].

Today one finds quite a number of typos in Qur’an text public available online; mainly due to the following:

  • Missing Diacritics
  • Text Conversion
  • Technical Difficulties

The Tanzil Project is amid to provide a highly verified precise quran text to be used in quranic websites and applications. As stated, quote:

'Our mission in the Tanzil project is to produce a standard quran text and serve as a reliable source for this standard text on the web.'[2]

Online Quran Project make use of the following Al-Qur’an text, with including

  • Superscript alefs [dagger alif] (like in عَلىٰ),
  • Pause marks (like ۖ and Sajda)
  • Rub al-hizb signs (۞)
