[edit] Spoilers

Please warn before adding spoilers, the game is now ruined for me,thank-you.

It's not like the story of this game is anything out of the ordinary. It's rather simple and superfluous.

[edit] Genma Onimusha

I am curious, why the article doesn't differentiates between the upgraded Xbox port from the original PS2 title? Even if it is a port, there is enough new content (and a change of titles) to make a mention of it.

If you know what information to add please do so. I never played the Xbox version and all I know is that there is some doll that follows Samanosuke around, well, that might even be untrue. hansamurai 飯侍 (burp) 13:20, August 18, 2005 (UTC)
I apologize for not being of any help, but I don't have any idea on how to format text or how to redact the information to comply with the encyclopedic standard. The article is nicely done as it is , and I really don't want to disrupt it with my general noobness. If it is of any help, I'll list the main differences between Genma Onimusha and Onimusha Warlords:
  • Increased general difficulty. The number of talismans and soul absorbers has been increased to balance that.
  • Minor graphical enhancements (anything metallic has a reflective look).
  • 5.1 surround sound.
  • Two new areas: a second Dark Realm and the Ogre Tower (complet with a new boss battle, the Guardian).
  • A new type of soul to absorb: The Green Soul. Get five of these and you can activate a temporal invecibility. The catch is that enemies can also absorb green souls, turning into more powerful versions of themselves.
  • An entirely new set of armors (Ninja Suit,Metal Armor and Ogre Armor).
  • The location of items are shuffled around from the original.
  • A new type of normal enemy was added.
  • Orbs and weapons are now upgraded simultaneously.
  • You can charge your weapon and magic attacks to inflict greater damage.
  • New unlockable content after finishing the game.
  • And last but not least, the infamous Ayame Doll. She is a little porcelain doll that sprouts huge claw-like blades and pursues Samanosuke through the game. While she can be considered a mini boss, she is actually tougher than most of the boss battles in the game, thanks to her powerful attacks (one which is unblockable) and ridiculously high stamina. She can be compared to "Mr X" in Resident Evil 2 and the Nemesis in Resident Evil 3.

[edit] Info Boxes

I added info boxes for all the games, please change any information that you find incorrect but I double checked most of it so it should be right. hansamurai 飯侍 (burp) 03:44, July 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Blade Warriors and Tactics

I swapped the two game's position because it left more white space near the bottom of the article than in the middle. We also aren't technically going in chronological order before with Oni 3 before the two spinoffs so I can't see any harm it will do. If you think it's unjust, be bold and change them back. :) hansamurai 飯侍 (burp) 03:44, July 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Split

I'd like to propose that this article be split into articles for each game, with this article being about the series as a whole. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 11:19, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Might as well. Other games are like that too. Thunderbrand 23:21, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree with the suggestion to split the article. Each game has it's own story to tell, I doubt that just a paragraph or two can sum up a game, and I doubt that just one article can cover the series as a whole.Jin Jae 01:04, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

True True. All of the sections have enough content to survive on their own. I also agree that the split should happen in order for more general content to be filled. --Link25 21:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Onimusha Dawn of Dreams

"Soki, is a completely original creation who wields" is that propagada speech? - 23:25, 6 September 2005 65.182.32.3

The game actually features a hidden 2-Player cooperation mode. Press R1+L2 at the title screen on both pads simultaniously. Then press the start button on the second pad. You will hear a jingle.

[edit] Jubei Yagyu in Dawn of Dreams

Has this been confirmed? It says in the article, that he makes an entrance in Dawn of Dreams, but I was thinking that it might have been a mistake, since there's a heroine named Jubei and a villain (or anti-hero) named Munenori Yagyu. Someone might have mixed the two names together, and voila, Jubei Yagyu.
Hecko 00:20, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

There are two Yagyus in this game. One is Munenori Yagyu, the antagonist, and he doesn't carry the Jubei name. However, Jubei Akane Yagyu, Soki's ally, does.

-- Yes that appears to be a mistake, Jubei Yagyus grand daughter does feature in it though.

--Yup, in fact, Munenori was depleted as antagonist and watchdog of the both Toyotomi's Clan and The Genma Triumvirate in the game, compared with his true historical-self. According to the historic record, he is indeed a heroical swordsman that hold up the dignity of his family. In the other hand, however, Akane, whom ascended the title 'Jubei' in the game, is actually Munenori's niece. She probably just an imaginary character, or maybe she indeed exist within the Yagyu's Family, according the official historian's record, but only as a very minor figure with another name and not Akane, due to inequality society between Men and Women during the era of Feudal Japan, which a female, or lady was not allowed ascending the title of a warrior, instead their rendered to the position of a household, or Geisha. [edit] The part about Samanosuke becoming a monk.

I know the evidence in the end cinematic of Dawn of Dreams is compelling enough to tell that Tenkai is Samanosuke, but is it necessary to introduce the idea at the end of the Onimusha 3 section?

<quote> In the fourth game, Samanosuke, whom has taken the Buddhist title of Nankobo Tenkai, is known as the Red Onimusha, and it is most likely that this name was given to him because he wielded the legendary Genma Samonji. </quote>

What do you guys think?

Oh, and I'm thinking of cleaning up the article, as in grammatical and spelling errors, as well as tidying the information up.

[edit] Ohatsu's powers

Ohatsu channels the blood that is tied to the previous genma lord, her uncle Oda Nobunaga, which is where she inherits her abilities from and it has nothing to do with the Oni.

She got her powers through Nobunaga? How is that possible?? Nobunaga was a human that got “turned” into a Genma lord. Do you just automatically get powers from the Genma just because a family member had got them??? Because that doesn’t seem too make any sense at all.

[edit] Infobox details for individual Onimusha titles

I have three problems with this page. For one, it says in the info-box for Onimusha: Warlords that it was released for the Playstation 2, PC, and Xbox, but the release dates only mention where and when the PS2 and XBX versions were released, but the PC versions date for any regions, if it actually happened, isn't mentioned. So if somebody can find and edit this info in, I would appreciate it. The second error is in the info box for Onimusha 3: Demon Siege. It says the release dates for various regions for the PS2 version, but it only says one of the release dates for various regions for the PC version. It does say "December 8, 2005" but that was the Japanese release date of Onimusha 3 for PC. It doesn't mention the North American or European release dates of the PC version. The PC version didn't hit North American shelves until March 16 and the date might or might not have been the same for the European release. For three, there are three publishers for the PC version depending on what region of the world we're talking abou, not just two. If I'm not mistaken, the PC version was distributed in Japan by Capcom themselves, distributed in other East Asian nations (including Hong Kong) by Typhoon Games, and distributed in North America and Europe by Ubisoft, which is the piece of publisher info missing here in the Onimusha 3 info box. Somebody needs to edit all this in too. Vgamer101 20:20, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Oni Gauntlet

Oh lord the grammar in this entry is painful... I'd guess it was a direct translation from Japanese. I don't even know where to start editing, short of a rewrite of the first third or so...

[edit] Genma Clan

Can anyone here give me some information about the Genma Clan in Onimusha ? Thanks in advance. NJB

[edit] Listen to This

This is what someone had to say about all this info.

Ooh and stop quoting from Wikipedia, it's hardly gospel. And I'm tempted to believe you are the one who's been 'contributing' to the Onimusha Wikipages.

What do you make of this?

  • Well that person is an idiot.

[edit] Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny makes me cry.

The page Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny was, quite frankly a total mess, rediculously so. (see here[1] for the original version) It contained next to no viable information and looked more like a game manual than an encylepedia page, and as such I have pretty much blanked it and left it as a stub. If someone would care to write a decent article, as I have no knowledge on the subject. Rehevkor 16:32, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What is an Oni

Someone explain it to people who don't play the games. --207.233.79.52 23:46, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
