Onithochiton neglectus opiniosus is a subspecies of chiton in the family Chitonidae.

This subspecies is endemic to New Zealand, in the southern half of the South Island and Stewart Island.

This chiton is found under the holdfasts of giant kelp.
[edit] Description
The shell is long and narrow, with deep valves, and long insertion plates.
Length is up to 29 mm, and width up to 15 mm.
