Talk:One Million Signatures
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi,
This is information about an actual non-profit sicial rights campaign that has been very active and is becoming well-known among Iranians. It has many signatories including peace prize laureates. I simply used their own description of the campaign in order to explain about it but that should not mean that it's meant for advertising. Although I do believe it's a positive and noble effort, the campaign is widespread and has not aimed at advertising in wikipedia!
Maybe the fact that their own article was used causes this misunderstanding. I would very much like someone to help with this and maybe write an article that doesn't sound like advertising. But this campaign deserves to have a description in wikipedia.
I revised the article. Can someone remove the deletion tag from the top of the page.

[edit] removed
anyone except the author can remove the tag. i am not the author, and I have done just that. The public campaign is notable, and the article does not read like an advertisement. I have wikified it further. it needs refs, &^ I have put on a tag saying so. Take another look, and if you dont agree with me, just send it to AfD. I do not think this article was appropriate for speedy in the first place. DGG 00:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- DGG, for some reason your tag removal didn't show - however, I think there's been a lot of improvement here, and I removed the tag. I added flags for copyediting and wikification. Magichands 00:24, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] copyright
I have used parts of their own their own article here and I have some concerns. There is no mention of copyright on their website http://www.we-change.biz/ But this doesn't imply there is no copyright. I am sending them an email and asking permission but there is a time difference between the countries so we have to wait. What do you suggest?
- It depends how much you used. If you used a sentence or two, it is probably fair use. For example, you could legitimately copy their list of goals, especially since you;d want to get the language exact. But otherwise, you should now rewrite it all in your own words. Indicate with quotation marks the part you cite. If you want to use more than that, yes you do need not just their permission to use in WP, but their release of the work into the public domain according to the terms of the GFDL license, because everything that is found in WP must be able to be legally copied elsewhere. [edit] "false supporters"
Sina, who is a true supporter and who is a "false supporter" [1]?! --Rayis 23:24, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
I actually don't think such a list with no references is needed. In any case it is in the article history if it needs to be retrieved --Rayis 23:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Arton11.gif
Image:Arton11.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
