[edit] Background
According to Clarkson, "One Minute" was originally planned to be on her second studio album Breakaway, but the song did not make it to the final tracklisting. However, Clarkson revised the lyrics and added the song to the tracklisting of My December.
Clarkson premiered the song at Nascar's Daytona 500 on February 18, 2007. It was intended to be the first single off My December.[2]
[edit] Single release
"One Minute" gained a significant amount of radio airplay in Australia, subsequently becoming the #1 most added song track in the country on August 10, 2007.[3][4] On September 3, 2007, Sony BMG Australia confirmed "One Minute" as the second single from My December set to be released in Australia on September 22, 2007.[1][3] Kelly Clarkson did a 5 day promo tour from September 27 to October 2. She promoted her new single "One Minute" as well as talking on various shows about My December, an activities set which included several high-profile TV performances, events and exclusive showcases in Melbourne and Sydney.
In early February 2008, a rumor started circulating that "One Minute" will be released in the U.S. in late February or early March. Kelly has yet to confirm this.
Subsequently "One Minute" became the show opener on her October 2007-commencing My December Tour.
On November 1, Sony BMG released an official music video for "One Minute", recorded live from a promotional tour she held in Australia, Sydney in The Nokia Forum. The music video's first appearance on air was during the premiere on a TV program 'RAGE' on ABC channel Australia.
