[edit] Meaning

"One Man Army is about the struggle for individuality. It's about finding the courage to metaphorically strip naked and set fire to all your inhibitions. It's about cleansing yourself of all the people and things that suffocate your individuality." ~Raine Maida

[edit] Music video

This music video starts with lead singer, Raine Maida, sitting in a hotel lobby. He gets up and walks away, but apparently has been split from himself, as there is another one of him left behind in the chair. The first Raine goes to walk through town on his own. The other one is performing the song with the band elsewhere on the hotel's ground floor. During the choruses of the song, a wind blows and the walking Raine is carried everywhere with it, causing him to crash through anything in his path, including cars, walls, glass windows, and construction sites. Every time he is about to be carried off, he tries holding onto something, including fire hydrants and street signs, but to no avail. Scenes of this and the band performing in the hotel are alternated. At the end of the video, Raine sits down on a bench at a boardwalk to rest, but then the wind is about to take him away again. He tries holding on to the bench, but finally he flies off into the sky over the water, falling completely out of sight. This video was directed by Mark Kohr.
