One Flea Spare

One Flea Spare is a play written by Naomi Wallace that takes place in the era of the Black Plague and stars four characters that are trapped inside a house (William Snelgrave, Darcy Snelgrave, Bunce and Morse) and a guardsman (Kabe). The play involves the transcendence of cultural, social, class and sexual boundaries.

- ONE FLEA SPARE was commissioned by the Bush Theater in London, and opened there on 18 October 1995. It received its American premiere at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and was awarded the 1996 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, the 1996 Fellowship of Southern Writers Drama Award, and the 1996 Kesselring Prize. ONE FLEA SPARE was produced in New York at the Joseph Papp Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival. Produced through special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing Inc. The title is derived from a poem by John Donne.
