One Day International cricket hat-tricks
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of all hat-tricks in One-Day International cricket; that is, the occasions when a bowler has taken three wickets in consecutive deliveries in a One Day International (ODI) cricket match, dismissing three different batsmen with three consecutive balls bowled. A hat-trick is a relatively rare event: only 24 hat-tricks have been taken in over 2,500 ODIs since the first ODI, between Australia and England on 5 January 1971.
The first ODI hat-trick (#1 in the list below) was taken by Jalal-ud-Din of Pakistan, playing against Australia in the 158th ODI in September 1982; the most recent (#24) was taken by Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka, playing against South Africa in the 2556th ODI, during the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
