A One-stroke cycle is a two-stroke cycle that uses a double-acting piston; and thus both strokes are powered, and each stroke is half of two two-stroke cycles.[citation needed] A design patented by Russell Bourke has two pistons on one rod and does four cycles - intake, compression, ignition and exhaust - in one stroke of each piston.
