ondal is a journalist living in New York City. he received a B.A. in Asian American Studies from the University of California at Berkeley in 2000 and an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University in 2002.

He is currently a markets reporter at CNBC.com, the Web site for financial news channel CNBC. From 2004 to 2006 he held a similar position at forbes.com.

ondal was born at John Muir Hospital[1] in Walnut Creek, California and spent his formative years in Danville, California. He received a black belt of the first degree when he was in 6th grade. His teacher was Master Byung Hyung Yu.

ondal took his name from a korean folk story called "Ondal the Fool," translated from Korean.
