Ondray T. Harris

On May 23, 2007, United States President George W. Bush nominated Justice Department lawyer Ondray T. Harris, of Virginia, to be Director of the Department of Justice's Community Relations Service (CRS). Mr. Harris was nominated to head CRS for a four-year term, and he was designated Acting Director until his nomination is confirmed by the Senate. Prior to being nominated to serve as Director of CRS, Mr. Harris served as a Deputy Chief in the Employment Litigation Section of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. Before joining the Department of Justice, Ondray Harris was a Partner at Leclair Ryan, a Virginia law firm. Earlier in his career he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of the Attorney General. The CRS is the Justice Department's "peacemaker" for community conflicts and tensions tied to differences of race, color and national origin.[1]

Mr. Harris received his bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University. Ondray Harris is a native of Richmond, Virginia.
