Onda (Bengali: ওন্দা) is a town, community development bloc and assembly constituency in Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Siddheshwara temple at Bahulara is a major attraction.

In the 2001 census, Onda community development bloc had a total population of 219,845 of which 112,429 were males and 107,416 were females. Decadal growth for the period 1991-2001 was 15.06% for Onda, against 13.79% in Bankura district. Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84%.[1]

Onda is an intermediate panchayat in Bankura district, with Chingani, Churamonipur, Kalyani, Kantabari, Lodna, Majdiha, Mednipur, Nakaijuri, Nikunjapur, Onda I and II, Punisole, Ramsagar, Ratanpur and Santore village panchayats under it..[2]

In the 2006 elections to the state assembly Tarapada Chakrbarti of All India Forward Bloc|Forward Bloc]] won the Onda seat defeating his nearest rival Sk. Abeda Bibi of Trinamool Congress. Anil Mukherjee of Forward Bloc won the seat in a row defeating Sk. Sajahan of INC in 2001, Arup Khan of INC in 1996, Sambhu Narayan Goswami of INC in 1991, Tapan Banerjee of INC in 1987, Sambhu Narayan Goswami of INC in 1982 and 1977.[3]

Onda is part of Bankura (Lok Sabha constituency).[4]

Bahulara, a census village under Onda II village panchayat, is the site of the Siddheshwara temple dedicated to Shiva is the finest specimen of brick rekha deul temple ascribed to Pala (medieval) period.[5]It is about 5 km from Onda railway station, midway between Bankura and Vishnupur.[6]
