On Line Opinion

On Line Opinion is an electronic opinion journal, founded in 1999 by political commentator and strategist Graham Edward Young who is a former president of the Queensland branch of the Liberal Party of Australia, and edited by Susan Prior. OLO is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and has an estimated 145,000 readers a month [1] and is the largest Australian political site.[2]
It has 5-6 new articles published every week day on a wide range of topics of national and international interest, including articles on a different featured topic each month. As of January 2007 there were just over 5,300 articles on the website. It is ranked 21 out of the 75 Australian news sites monitored by Neilsen NetRatings[citation needed].
On Line Opinion has been set up as a chamber for ideas and debate and includes a forum section where readers can discuss the articles with the author and other readers.
The journal is not-for-profit and is owned by National Forum Ltd, which operates sister projects on the same website including The Domain, which carries live feeds from Australia’s most widely read and influential political web logs, Ozelections, What the people want, Petitions National Forum and theiParliament site.
