[edit] Adam Konantovich

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Adam Konantovich, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.geocities.com/rnseitz/X_Story.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Baran Yönter

The article Baran Yönter has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 03:30, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spam in Keith Raniere

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Keith Raniere, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Keith Raniere is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Keith Raniere, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Categories

Hi there Omni Scientia (I like your user name, even if it's not perfect Latin). I noticed that you're deleting categories from several people while you're adding the Category:Giftedness category. Is there any reason why you're doing this? Thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 19:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

'What is wrong with it?'
'Yes. I created or edited several biographies of gifted people but I didn't include the categories. I was warned about that and am now fixing it. I also deleted some categories that seemed a bit useless to me.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omni Scientia (talkcontribs) 20:07, 24 December 2007
The adjective should agree with the noun, in this case Omnia Scientia, if I'm not mistaken (it's been twenty years since I took Latin!). Anyways, those "useless" categories are usually there for a good reason and shouldn't be deleted without discussion. By the way, you shouldn't edit into other's comments, it makes it difficult to keep track of a conversation- this isn't email- in those occasions where a quote is needed, just copy it into your own note. Cheers! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 20:33, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the Latin class. I don't see a good reason to put someone under a category like "American People". Who would look for American People in wikipedia? It seems too wide and vague. Anyway, if make an unwise change someone else is likely to repair it. I will avoid writing into other's quote. I had never wrote to someone in Wikipedia before.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Omni Scientia (talkcontribs) 20:41, 24 December 2007

Sorry if I sounded didactic about the Latin, I was just trying to be friendly- but I sometimes put my foot in my mouth when doing so... You are right about Category:American people typically being too wide for someone to be filed under. The category is needed for the category tree, but most people should be listed in a sub-category of that category, such as Category:American feminists for one example. In fact, if you check out the category it has a note basically saying this same thing! Instead of just removing an article from such a category, you should attempt to properly sub-categorize it instead. Also you should use the edit summary line under the edit box to explain what you're doing to us other editors. By the way, to add your signature to your notes on talk pages, just type four tildes (~~~~) after your message and the software will automatically add a signature to your note. Happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 20:55, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

A few other notes and suggestions:

  • Under no circumstances remove the categories for birth/death years, or Category:Living people (when applicable). All biography entries should have those.
  • Do not add Category:Biography to articles that are not actually about the literary genre of biography, but just happen to be biographies of people.
  • Use Category:Giftedness sparingly: it can be safely assumed that virtually all notable researchers/scientists/chess grandmasters/etc. are significantly gifted, so there's no need to tag them all individually. Also, since giftedness is much more a matter of opinion than someone's birth date or profession, it is very important that the article include reliable sources documenting that the person is indeed unusually gifted even within their category.

In general, for categorization, try to emulate the style of other prominent biography articles as closely as possible, to help ensure consistency across all Wikipedia articles. Thanks, Hqb (talk) 21:09, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Elipongo, you don't have to apologize for that. I wasn't being sarcastic.

Hqb, I didn't know these rules. I will try to follow them. Now I noticed the category Biography is different of what I supposed. I included the category Giftedness only for some people whose IQ has been reported to be over 175. Even Nobel Prize winners and Chess National Champions have IQs around 160 in average.

[edit] Notability of Thiago Bertho

A tag has been placed on Thiago Bertho requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 21:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

To answer, or attempt to answer, your query: all of the claimed intellectual achievements that the article describes are statements unsupported by any form of evidence or citation; and, as you yourself agree, his adult achievements have so far not been remarkable. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 22:35, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hindemburg Melão Jr.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Hindemburg Melão Jr., suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
