[edit] Globalize tag
I've slapped a {{Globalizecountry}} tag on this article, because this sort of thing isn't restricted to Japan - it's still a fairly common custom in China (although it's getting less so), and I would guess other East Asian countries too. Instead of having a redlink to xiangqin in the opening paragraph, the article should cover the custom as a whole instead of having separate articles for the same thing in different countries.

- Wouldn't there be more than enough differences in separate cultures to justify a seprate article rather than modifying this one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.121.24 (talk) 22:39, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
There's already an 'arranged marriage' page discussing arranged marriage in general; there's also others discussing arranged marriage in specific countries, of which this is one. Omiai refers to arranged marriage in Japan in particular; the customs described in it are unique to Japan. The arranged marriage page already exists to provide a global perspective of arranged marriage in general - I have no idea why you want to move all that here! 150.203.222.65 (talk) 07:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Lily
