This is a mock-up of an idea I've had kicking around for a while.

[edit] Recruiting passers-by

The idea is to put a small notice of some type on every article (like the box in the upper right) that shows for unregistered users and encourages them to leave comments if they see a problem. It will present them with the normal talk page "new section" window, which will hopefully seem just like any old comment field on a blog or news article. This should be a lot less intimidating than finding the edit link, clicking on it, navigating through a bunch of unfamiliar code ("What are all these brackets and squiggles?"), and then saving ("I don't want to break something!").

The custom edit and comment screens are at User:Omegatron/Sandbox/Newcomeredit and User:Omegatron/Sandbox/Newcomercomment. Don't be afraid to change them into something nice.

If implemented, I think the box would go in the tagline so that it displays consistently in every situation.
