Dr. Omer Nishani (1887-1954) was an Albanian a politician from Gjirokastër. During the second world war, Nishani was an anti-fascist theorist. He dovetailed himself however within the Albanian Liberation Front (LNC), dominated by the Communists, and the communist party. In May 1944 Omer Nishani became Chairman of the Presidium for the antifascist Council for the national release (and with that the de facto president) and Minister for Foreign Affairs. After the formation of the Republic of Albania on January 12, 1946, Nishani was Chairman of the Presidium until 1953. He represented Albania during a consultation of the Allied powers in Paris (1947).
