Prince Omar Rashid is a fictional character in the American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, played by Kabir Bedi from 1994 to 1995 and briefly in 2005.
[edit] Character
Omar, a prince from Morocco, first appeared when Taylor Forrester (Hunter Tylo) was presumed dead in a plane crash in 1994. His people had found her near death and taken her to the safety of Omar's palace.
Taylor awoke with severe amnesia, not remembering even her name. Recently-widowed Omar began to develop strong feelings for Taylor, who he renamed 'Laila'. Upon learning of Taylor's true identity, Omar kept it from her and asked her to marry him, and she accepted. Taylor began to regain her memory, and tried multiple times to escape, but was stopped. She attempted (but failed) to contact Ridge (Ronn Moss), who had married Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), still believing Taylor was dead. Omar told Taylor about Ridge and Brooke's marriage, and Taylor, while devastated, decided to stay and married him. James Warwick (Ian Buchanan) and Connor Davis (Scott Thompson Baker) soon found Taylor at the palace and asked her to go back to Los Angeles with them, but she refused, until her father, Jack (Chris Robinson), had a heart attack. Taylor convinced Omar to let her return.
Shortly after Taylor's return to L.A., Ridge was blinded in a lab explosion. Taylor played nurse to Ridge, much to Omar's disapproval. She soon revealed to Brooke that she was alive. She then revealed herself to Ridge, who was thrilled to see her alive. Despite this, Ridge was determined to stay with Brooke. Taylor decided to stay in L.A. and Omar went back to Morocco alone.
Omar reappeared in 2005, when it was revealed that Taylor had not died after being shot by Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) in 2002. Omar had taken Taylor from the hospital and replaced her with a very realistic dummy, which had been buried, and Taylor had been in a coma at the palace. Taylor returned to Ridge and Omar once again went back to the palace alone.
