Omar Andrés Asad, nicknamed el Turco (born April 9, 1971 in Buenos Aires) is a former footballer from Argentina. His first match in the Primera División Argentina came in 1992 when he participated in a match for his team, Vélez Sársfield, against Talleres de Córdoba. He played as a striker and was characterised by being strong and quick.
He was a determinant player in the best times of Vélez Sársfield, altogether with mananger Carlos Bianchi and Paraguayan goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert. With Vélez, Asad won the Clausura in 1993 and after that, the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup, in which he was declared Man of the Match having scored the second goal against A.C. Milan in the match. Asad later won the Apertura in 1995 and took part on his national team of Argentina, until he got injured in the end of that season, which stopped his progression as a player.
