[edit] Plot

Seven years ago, Amakawa Yuuto's parents died leaving him living alone without a single relative. Ever since then, his childhood friend, Kuzaki Rinko, has waken him up, cooked for him and generally taken care of him. The only thing he has from any relative is a mysterious charm, a red ball, given to him by his grandparents as a good luck charm (an omamori).

From the day of his 16th birthday, his charm is said to not be able to protect him from evil spirits anymore, and into Yuuto's life walks Himari. A cat spirit-samurai girl and demon hunter who swears to protect Yuuto. There is only one small problem: Yuuto has a severe allergic reaction to cats.

[edit] Characters

Amakawa Yuuto
Yuuto is the only living descendant of the Amakawa family, one of the 12 demon slayer families. Yuuto has an allergy to cats that cause his eyes to water and his nose to run, but the reason for this allergy is currently unknown. Both Yuuto's parents died in a car accident when he was young, making him fall into a state of depression, with his childhood friend Rinko bring in out of his depression. On his sixteenth birthday he and Rinko are walking to school when they meet an unknown girl with a katana. Later in school, a demon possess one of his classmates and tries to kill Yuuto, but the mysterious girl appears and saves him. That night he finds the girl again, but this time in his bed. It is revealed that her name is Himari, and that she is a cat demon that played (in cat form) with Yuuto in his early childhood. She guards him from demons because a special tag, that he received from his grandparents to ward off demons, ran out of power on his sixteenth birthday. He cannot remember most of his childhood, a reaction to the power of the charm that warded off demons, so Himari takes him to his grandparents house in hopes to regain his lost memory. In chapter 15 it is revealed that he has a fiancee. In chapter 16 he kissed Himari. Stays with Himari during her recovery in Chapter 20.
Himari
She is also called Noihara the Crimson blade. Himari is a cat demon that played with Yuuto during his childhood when he stayed at his grandparents house. She can change her form from human to cat, even halfway, having a human body but with cat ears and tail. One of Himari's ancestors were spared by an Amakawa demon slayer, and so the ancestors and the descendants serve the Amakawa family. Himari has loved Yuuto since his childhood and she often flirts with him. Himari was sad when his parents took Yuuto away without saying goodbye. Himari is afraid of bodies of water where her feet do not touch the ground, she is fine with baths and shallow rivers. She took Yuuto back to his late grandparents house so that he can regain his lost childhood memory. She was able to help Yuuto get some of his memory by changing into her cat form. When Yuuto was seriously injured by the air demon Shama, Himari went into a berserk rage and was stopped by Yuuto when he was finally able to use his demon slayer ability of light. She faced off against Kuesu in Chapter 19, and was forced to retreat, losing her sword in the process. To mend her wound she ingested a drug that reverted her to her neko-mode and stripping her of her sanity and acted like a cat.
Kuzaki Rinko
Rinko is the childhood friend of Yuuto (when he lived with his parents). Rinko cried with Yuuto when his parents died, and she helped him out of his depression. She has a crush on Yuuto, getting annoyed when other girls flirt with him. Every year, during a summer festival, Yuuto buys Rinko two red ribbons that she wears all year round. After a year when Yuuto buys her a new pair of ribbons, they tie the old ribbons on the branch of a tree located where the festival is held. She went with Yuuto, Himari, and Shuzuku to Yuuto's grandparents house. Recently questioning her place in Yuuto's life.
Shuzuku
Shuzuku is a (water dragon demon) in the form of a small girl. Shuzuku usually has a stoic expression, and is almost always completely soaked with water. Shuzuku's entire family were killed by demon slayers, giving her somewhat of a grudge against them. She first meets Yuuto at a river where she warns Yuuto that if he continues to go along with his demon slayer heritage, she would kill him. Later on at a beach, she drags Yuuto and Himari under water, into a cave to kill them, but Himari stopped her before she could kill Yuuto. After their fight, Shuzuku saw how Yuuto risked his life to save Himari, and then decided to leave. Shuzuku would be with a group of demons in a forest, and were able to convince her to try to 'seduce' Yuuto and try to find out if he really intends to kill demons. She also flirts with (and eventually kisses) Yuuto and says that she is going to 'shape him into the kind of guy she likes'. She went with Yuuto, Himari, and Rinko to Yuuto's grandparents house to regain his memory. She fought and defeated a small cyclops girl that worked with Shama in trying to kill Yuuto. After the fight with Shama, Shuzuku healed Yuuto's wounds by rubbing her bare body against Yuuto's. She often ends her sentence with "nano". She faced Kuesu in Chapter 16, but was pulled out of the fight by Kagetsuki.
Lizlet L Chelsie
Lizlet (or Liz for short) works in a tea café as a waitress, and really enjoys her job. Liz is a Tsukumogami, an inanimate object that came to life after a hundred years. She has the appearance of a young girl, but her true body is an antique tea cup that was the tea café owner bought in England. When she meets Yuuto she believed that he was some kind of exorcist, and that he was trying to kill her, so, in a panic, she added poison into Yuuto's tea, but Shuzuku was able to tell it was poisoned before Yuuto drank it. She then fights Himari and they were soon able to find Liz's real body, and as Liz was trying to get it back, Himari dropped it, but Yuuto was able to catch it and save Liz. After the misunderstanding was cleared, Liz began taking a liking to Yuuto.
Kaya
Kaya is a tatami child (a child's spirit that resides in a tatami mat) who serves the Amakawa family. She lives in Yuuto's grandparents house. She is extremely fond of Himari and often threatens Yuuto whenever he gets close to Himari and she said darkly that she would rather have him dead because Himari had to leave because of him.
Shama
Shama is an air demon that tries to kill Yuuto along with a small cyclops girl. She confronted Yuuto and Himari in a forest with a giant spirit who just wanted to fight Himari, while the cyclops girl fought Suzuku at Yuuto's grandparents house. Shama injures Yuuto when he threw himself in front of an attack that might have killed Himari. When Himari goes into a blind rage, Yuuto saves Shama by blocking Himari's sword with a wooden stick infused with his demon slaying abilities. Later Shama appears inside Yuuto's grandparents house to get back the cyclops girl, who had been restrained by the others, and told Rinko that there were other demon slaying families that are after Yuuto.
Jinguuji Kuesu
Kuesu is a daughter of another demon-slaying family, who seek to ally themselves with the Amakawa family through marriage. She appears to be part of Yuuto's past, and claims that Yuuto's grandfather had promised their marriage. She is highly aggressive and assertive, going so far as to kiss Yuuto twice in front of Himari just to stake her claim. Shizuku claims during a fight that the Jinguuji family is the weakest among the original 12 demon-slaying families, which angers Kuesu. Unlike Yuuto, she is trained in her heritage, and is fully capable of fighting. The Jinguuji family is seen by the 10 other families as heretics for using Western magic, and Kuesu herself is a master of Solomonic magic. It has also been suggested that it was Kuesu who made Yuuto allergic to cats.
Recently fought against Himari and forced her to retreat after pulling out a magic gun. Her spell book actually restrains her magicial power and she doesn't need time to cast spells that don't invlove building worlds or changing dimension. Her magicial powers are said to be that of 10 people.
