From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oliver Filo (1982->) is an underground poet/writer, who writes mainly "alternative" prose and poetry, deriving material both from the world around him as well as what he calls "the world within", meaning his mind. Filos' prose is mainly autobiographical and mostly consists from his experiences as an opioid addict, an affliction from which he has suffered from since age 15, and the more-or-less criminal world of illegal narcotics trade. Drug use in general he started at age 12. This has made him somewhat infamous in the eyes of the general public, as well as the law. As an ardent supporter of decriminalization/legalization of ALL drugs, especially cannabis, he has gained some notoriety in Northern Europe. In his opinion "...an TRULY FREE individual should have the right to make his/her own decision whether he/she wants to drink alcohol, smoke pot or inject heroin without the society punishing him/her. As long as no-one gets 'hurt' but the user himself, it should be legal and permitted. It might sound heavy, but it's an fundamental right for a human being. Or at least it should be..."

He has also said: "Who are you (the police) to tell me what I can or can't drink, eat or smoke? The decision is mine, and mine alone."

His prose is mostly autobiographical, sometimes mixed with some fiction, much like the works of his literary heroes, William S. Burroughs and Hunter S. Thompson. Words like gonzo and beat have been used to describe his works.

Although he has not published an novel yet, his short-stories and poems are quite popular in certain circles, and some can be found on the Internet.
