Olivier de Bandt

Olivier de Bandt (born 1960) is a French economist. He is currently Deputy Director of Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting at the Bank of France. He also teaches at the University of Paris X: Nanterre. His research interests are centered around the economics of banking, international economics, the analysis of business cycles, macroeconomic forecasts, and econometrics.

[edit] Early life
Olivier de Bandt was born in Wilrijk, Belgium, a city located in the neighborhood of Antwerpen. He moved to France at the age of two and gained French citizenship at the age of six. He kept his Belgian citizenship till the age of eighteen.

After a short term assignment in the French administration (Ministry of Industry), Olivier de Bandt joined the Bank of France in 1985. In 1996 he moved to Frankfurt, Germany to work at European Monetary Institute, the forerunner of the European Central Bank where he participated in the launch of the euro currency. After three years working in Germany he returned to the Bank of France. He is currently Deputy Director of Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting at the Bank of France.
[edit] Teaching and Research
Olivier de Bandt has been teaching in the graduate program of the economics department of the University of Paris X: Nanterre since 2002 (MSc in quantitative international economics).
He also taught at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (“Sciences-po”) from 1998 to 2000 as well as the Ecole Nationale de la statistique et de l’Administration de l’information (ENSAI), a French engineering school.
Olivier de Bandt is co-editor with H. Herrmann and G. Parigi of Divergence or Convergence in Europe: growth and business cycles in France, Germany and Italy(eds) (2006), published by Springer Verlag, Berlin.
Throughout his career Olivier de Bandt has published extensively in economic and financial journals including: Journal of Banking and Finance, Revue Economique, Revue d’Economie Politique, Economie et Prévision, Applied Economics, Journal of Forecasting, Economic Modelling.
