Olivier Deschacht (born in Ghent February 16, 1981) is a Belgian footballer currently playing for R.S.C. Anderlecht as a left back or left wing-back. He plays for the Belgium national football team regularly. Now he is one of the main players of the Anderlecht defense, being vice-captain of the squad since the 2007-2008 season.
At the age of 7, he began playing for S.K. Begonia Lochrist before he moved to K.A.A. Gent in 1991. He then spent two years (1995-1997) at K.S.C. Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen and signed for Anderlecht to play in their academy. He made his first team debut in 2001 under the coaching of Aimé Anthuenis.
For the 2007 season, Deschacht was awarded the captain's armband replacing teammate Bart Goor during Goor's injuries. With Goor's impending retirement the captaincy could be with Deschacht full-time by 2008.
Since august 2007, he is the boyfriend of Miss Belgium 2007, Annelien Coorevits.
