Olivia Lord is a character in the American television series Nip/Tuck portrayed by actress Portia de Rossi. She was first introduced in episode 5.02, "Joyce & Sharon Monroe," when she and Julia arrive in Los Angeles and disclose their romantic relationship to Sean and Christian. Both men are initially shocked by this revelation, though they quickly accept Olivia and Julia engaging in a lesbian relationship. After Sean meets Eden, it is revealed that she is Olivia's daughter, thus creating some tension between Sean and Olivia.
When Liz Cruz sits down to have lunch with Olivia and Julia, she expresses her concern to Christian that Julia may not be a bonafide lesbian, as she exhibited signs of restraint from Olivia. Christian then believes that Julia is not committed to Olivia, and thus attempts to have an affair with Julia, which ultimately occurs. However, Julia reveals that Olivia prompted her to engage Christian to "get it out of [her] system." During the filming of a reality show in the McNamara/Troy office, Liz admits to having kissed Olivia, causing a slight altercation between Liz and Julia. Afterward, Olivia and Julia mutually agree to cease all sexual advances outside their relationship. At one point, Olivia discusses possible marriage to Julia, but their relationship begins to disintegrate after an altercation with a thief and eventual kidnapper. The women (specifically targeted because they are lesbians) are abducted on the street, driven to various ATM's to withdraw money, and eventually taken to an undisclosed location and forced to strip at gunpoint. Olivia is an emotional wreck through the entire encounter while Julia takes an aggressive stance, finally asking the man to kill them or desist. After the man disappears and the women return to their lives, Julia decides to continue cheating on Olivia with Christian.
Eden, Olivia's daughter, instigated numerous altercations between herself and both Sean and Christian, even blackmailing Christian with his affair with Julia. She used this information to request some plastic surgery for a friend and then herself, at which point Christian gave her pills she believed were for weight loss and depression. Afterward, Christian used this to set her up as a drug addict who stole the pills. After realizing her daughter's various misdeeds and believing the fabrication of her having stolen pills, Olivia, along with Julia and Christian's assistance, sent Eden to a drug rehabilitation facility.
In the episode "August Walden" Julia confesses her affair with Christian to Olivia.
