Olivia Cole (born November 26, 1942) is an Emmy Award-winning American actress.
Cole was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Arvelia (née Cage) and William Cole.[1] She was the first Afro-American actress to be nominated for and subsequently win an Emmy Award. Her television credits include The Guiding Light,Roots, Backstairs at the White House, Something about Amelia, North and South, Book I, and Brewster Place.
Cole's Broadway credits include The School for Scandal, You Can't Take It with You, The Merchant of Venice, and The National Health. Cole is an honorary member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
In early 2008, Cole played the role of Momma T in First Sunday, with Ice Cube.
