Oliver Ackermann is the founder of the Brooklyn-based effects pedal company Death By Audio. Ackermann designs and manufactures these hand-wired guitar-effects pedals [1], and he has provided custom effects equipment to other bands such as U2 and Wilco.
Ackermann is also the guitarist/vocalist of A Place to Bury Strangers, which has been hailed as "the loudest band in New York".
Prior to moving to Brooklyn in 2003, he had played bass and guitar in the Fredericksberg, Virginia band, Skywave.
He had studied Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. [2]
