[edit] Generations
The text claims two generations (73-79 and 80-84) but the sidebar says three (73-74, 75-79 and 80-84). Seems like the sidebar makes no distinction between 73-74 and 75-79... I only have knowledge of the 1980 model, so maybe someone with knowledge of the earlier models can clear up the contradiction? Kevin Forsyth 16:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Top-line X-body?
If you go by divisional structure, the Buick Apollo/Skylark was the top-line X-body from 1973-75 and 1980-85. From 1976-79, it was the Cadillac Seville that was at the top of the X-based car heap. The Omega slotted underneath the Apollo/Skylark, and the Ventura/Phoenix beneath it. Of course, the Omega was available with a Salon package (that barely sold) in 1975, but the Skylark came with an S/R package, too. Rhettro76 16:55, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Not a Nova/Citation clone?
I can submit that the 1980-84 Oldsmobile Omega wasn't a Citation clone, as it didn't share a single body with the Citation. But it was a Buick Skylark clone, and the coupe was a Pontiac Phoenix clone.
However, the 1973-74 and 1975-79 models were, indeed, Chevrolet Nova clones. The only differences between the cars were their nameplates, options, taillight lenses, minor trim, and front fascias. All of these parts could be exchanged between the two cars with a decent tool set in a few hours. The Olds Omegas of the 1970s are just about as close to a "clones" as could be described.
