Talk:Old and New Light

Lots of confusion here, and I don't see the point to being confused...during the Great Awakening in NJ especially the debates at Cape May, that occurred in the early 1700s the term "New Light" was used specifically to refer to the Presbyterians, and the term "Old Light" was used specifically to refer to the Baptists. There is some stuff about this at the State Library at Trenton, and there was a 19th C Book called something like "History of the Baptists" to which RADM HF Stout (an authority on the Finley Family of Presbyterian New Light Ministers) refers in his History of the Stout Family. The Stouts were appearantly Baptists, and I think maybe this book which I think is c 1824 refers to the actual people involved in it. John5Russell3Finley 23:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
