Old Fire Station Theatre

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Old Fire Station Theatre is a theatre at 40 George Street in Oxford, England, one of the smaller studio theatres in the city.

The theatre, refurbished in the early 1990s under the supervision of producer Cameron Mackintosh, opened with Moby Dick, the success of which prompted Mackintosh to mount an ill-fated full-fledged West End production.

About twenty student shows are performed there per year, with the rest of the weeks being filled by a mixture of professional, semi-pro, and community theatre. Past productions include two Stephen Sondheim works, the revue Putting It Together with Diana Rigg and Assassins, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, What the Butler Saw, and Twelfth Night.
