Old Court Road is a major cross-county road in Baltimore County, Maryland. The road begins as Woodstock Road at Maryland Route 99 in Woodstock, Maryland, and then assumes the name Old Court Road at the line between Howard and Baltimore Counties. The road countinues for approximately the following 13 miles under the name Old Court through the towns of Granite, Randallstown, and Pikesville, until it reaches Maryland Route 25, also known as Falls Road. Though the name here officially changes to Ruxton Road, there is another section of Road known as Old Court Road off Ruxton Road that continues onto Joppa Road.
Two portions of Old Court Road are designated as Maryland State Highways number 125 and 133.
The road was an Indian trail repurposed by rangers to keep Indians back from a local fort. It was later used as part of a main road to the courthouse at Joppa (hence the name), once a major settlement. A historical marker has been posted by the State Roads Commission on Maryland Route 140 near the Old Court Road intersection.[1]
Part of the road follows the route of the long-gone Baltimore Northern Railroad.[2]
