Old Chief Joseph (c. 1785-1871), Tu-eka-kas, was an American Indian chief of the Wallowa Band of the Nez Perce and steadfast defender of his people's right to live peacefully on their traditional lands in the Wallowa Valley, undisturbed by white settlers and soldiers.

[1] He was the father of Chief Joseph.
