[edit] Summary

1919 advertising drawing showing the "Old Dutch Cleanser" label. To be used to illustrate use of the Dutch girl in advertising. (See Dutch cap article.)

As this image was from a "Merry Christmas" ad for the product dated 1919 according to the University of California, Davis "History Project," the drawing of this cleanser is likely public domain in the United States. Further, this is but a small portion of the entire advertising drawing, and is low resolution. As for the logo and package design itself (the trademark), all that is shown here, it is owned by the the Cudahy Packing Company (manufacturers of Old Dutch Cleanser in 1919) or its successors in interest. The proper analysis is fair use of trademark here, not of copyright.

Investigation of the U.S. Trademark Office records indicate that this logo is currently owned by Dial Brands, Inc.
