Olavi Alakulppi (1915 – 1990) was a Finnish cross country skier who competed in the 1930s. He won a gold medal in the 4 x 10 km at the 1939 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane.

During the Russo-Finnish War, Alakulppi served as first lieutenant in the Finnish Army. In 1945 to evade capture by the Red Army, he skied to Sweden and arranged for his wife Eevi, their son Vesa, and him to travel to the United States where he soon joined the United States Army. Vesa eventually followed his father into the army and was killed in action during the Vietnam War.[1]

Olavi Alakulppi is buried to the Arlington National Cemetery.
