[edit] Stamp description

The Oklahoma Statehood Stamp features a colorful depiction of an Oklahoma sunrise from beyond a river flowing through a valley of high plains terrain. Renowned artist Mike Larsen, of Chickasaw ancestry, captures this tranquil Oklahoma scene. Also, the stamp pays homage to 1943 hit Broadway musical Oklahoma! by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. with the caption, “Oh, what a beautiful mornin’…” The musical’s signature song doubles as Oklahoma’s state song.

[edit] First day of issue postmark

Stamp collectors interested in obtaining a "first day of issue" postmark will have until March 11, 2007 (60 days from the January 11) to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail.
